Persons over 65 face unique challenges including retirement, physical health changes, cognitive and memory changes, loss, adjustments and fears for the future.
I have extensive experience working specifically with older adults in mental health settings and hospital settings (stroke, rehabilitation, cancer care, palliative care and geriatrics).
-
Sudden and chronic changes to your physical health requires psychological adjustment including management of uncertainties, symptoms, fatigue, pain and communication with medical professionals.
I have worked in hospital settings supporting people newly diagnosed and further along their illness journey with neurological disorders (stroke, MS), dermatological conditions (eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo), cancer and at end of life (hospice/palliative care).
-
Psychological support can help people navigate the emotional and practical challenges of cancer, from diagnosis and treatment through to recovery or living with ongoing illness.
I am able to provide a space to process difficult emotions, develop coping strategies, manage anxiety and uncertainty, and support adjustment to the changes that cancer can bring.
-
I enjoy providing support through significant life transitions, helping people adjust to changes in their roles, relationships and family life, including retirement, grief, loss and separation.
-
I am experienced in seeing people with low mood, depression, burnout, worry, social anxiety, trauma, concerns related to appearance, rituals and obsessions.
-
Medical professionals face unique challenges throughout their training and careers, including high levels of responsibility, demanding workloads, performance pressures, exam challenges and the emotional impact of caring for others.
I have personal knowledge of the unique pressures facing medical professionals, having a medical family member. I enjoy providing a supportive space to navigate these pressures and maintain wellbeing and professional fulfilment.
